Crossing over the Burrard Inlet, the Lions Gate Bridge connects Vancouver with north Vancouver. This monument was named after The Lions, which are the pointed peaks on the North Shore Mountains which can be seen all over Vancouver. The journey of constructing the bridge started on March 31st, 1937 and opened on November 13th, 1938. The Lions Gate Bridge is located on Bridge Road. However not everyone has a car so there are bus stations near the bridge. One way people from west or east Vancouver can get there is through the 19th bus route. At the end of the 19th bus, you need to walk across Stanley park to end up at the bridge. People in north Vancouver can take the EB Marine Dr off ramp NS Lions Gate Bridge or the WB Marine Dr at Capilano River. Vancouver has bike lanes so people who ride bikes can easily get to the attraction. A bike lane which was finished during the first week of March 2016 and costed 7 million dollars runs down all 2.2km of the bridge.
