Mole Hill is a block in the West End consisting of some of the oldest heritage homes in Vancouver. The name comes from one of the first residents of the area, Henry Mole.
Several decades ago the City was gradually acquiring these homes in hopes of demolishing them to expand a park adjacent to them. Residents of the area came together to push back and we still have this amazing heritage area thanks to them. Residents of Mole Hill have constantly had to fight back against the City who have been trying to demolish the homes since the 1950s. A few years down the road the City Council voted reluctantly to save Mole Hill from demolition. Written by Matthias B. |
