Well known and not as well known streets of Coal Harbour.
Alberni Street
Alberni street was named after the spanish explorer: Colonel Pedro de Alberni. The street is in the heart of Coal Harbour and is currentely one of the most high-end streets in Vancouver. From expensive restaurants and cafés to luxurious jewelry and clothing stores to world famous hotels, this street really does have plenty to offer. The street, being extremely near to Robson street, is popular for tourists, but is much more secreted and isolated than Robson. Alberni street started off as a dirt road with forested lots and a few trees. The high influx of German immigrants to Vancouver after World War 2 made Robson street filled with delicatessens and pattiseries. Since Alberni and Robson are close neighbours, Alberni slowly gained some shops and restaurants. Eventually Alberni became a sophisticated street with expensive condos and skyscrapers. The immense transformation that Alberni street underwent over the past years contributes greatly to the transformation Coal Harbour underwent as a region of Vancouver.

West Hastings street
West Hastings street is one of the major streets not only in Coal Harbour, but in Vancouver too. The street is one of the longest in Vancouver--covering a distance of 13.6 kilometres. In 1886, the road at the time was named after Admiral George Hastings by L.A Hamilton, the CPR surveyor. West Hastings (west of Burrard) was called Seaton street, and was the heart of retail and 2 important men's clubs. From 1930-1950 even more change occured: West Hastings became a huge area for retail. Many shops, stores, and jewellers opened up quickly. In 1967, the Guinness Tower was built on West Hastings inbetween Thurlow and Burrard. This influenced business to move west and shaped West Hastings to be one of the biggest streets for business. Now, West Hastings street is still one of the most important business streets in Vancouver. With the completion of the Jameson House, one of the tallest skyscrapers in Coal Harbour, in the 2000's, the street also became one of the most popular places for real estate. With so many skyscrapers, stores, and businesses, West Hastings really is one of the most sophisticated and important streets in Vancouver and Coal Harbour.

Coal Harbour seawall
The Coal Harbour seawall is a shorter seawall leading to the longer Stanely Park seawall. The beautiful seawall stretches out 5.8 kilometers, and is one of Vancouver's nicest walks. The seawall starts and ends at Canada Place and the World Trade Centre. This prominent piece of architecture is a symbol of Canadian pride on the west coast. The Coal Harbour seawall is home to a cruise ship terminal, the Vancouver Convention Centre, the Westin Bayshore, several houseboats, and many pieces of art and history. The seawalk is lined with numerous plaques and informative posters explaining the history of Coal Harbour. The seawalk recentely became home to the 4-D Fly Over Canada attraction near Canada place. Overall this small but mighty seawall is one of the most scenic parts of Vancouver.
