Canada’s leading bridge design firm, Montreal- based Monsarrat & Pratley, were retained by the First Narrows Bridge Company for design and supervision of the construction of the bridge. Major W. G Swan, consulting engineer, was their Vancouver representative, and was responsible for preliminary surveys and planning. Robinson & Steinman of New York City were retained in an advisory capacity with regard with regard to certain features, such as the bridge lighting. Architect John. W. Wood was retained to provide designs for the aesthetic feature of the bridge. The design team proved themselves worthy of the task.
